Donate to our Harvard Club of NJ Internship Program!
Through your generous donations, we provide paid internships to NJ Harvard undergrads who spend their winter break working at a local non-profit.
The HCNJ Winternship program is funded solely by member donations, which are all tax deductible for the donor.
Each year, we sponsor Winter-break internships for Harvard undergrads from New Jersey!
The HCNJ pays selected interns to work at local NJ non-profits during the 3 week J-term period, at no cost to the non-profit organization.
This popular program's success depends on the generosity of HCNJ members like you!
We greatly appreciate donations of any size.
Please read testimonials from recent interns below:
Christopher - Center for Citizenship and Legal Immigration (CCLI):
“At CCLI, I learned quickly that a professional workplace doesn’t have to be a workplace — it can truly be a family. The staff are exceptional people who work tirelessly every day to secure the futures of countless people. I translated birth certificates, affidavits and court orders from Spanish to English, I even received a stack of 300 files and was told that I would be in charge of an immigrant child’s custody brief. It was in my hands to write a legal argument to a judge that argues why a mother should get sole-custody over her child, and why that child should be allowed to remain in the U.S. and not be deported back to Central America! Dozens of people filing for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status were kids my age, just trying to reunite with their families because life back home wasn’t safe. Through my work, I developed argumentative skills, learned how to read through documents very quickly and summarize key information, and most importantly, I helped families stay safe together and moved them one step forward towards citizenship. This internship sparked my interest in pursuing a law-school path. Thanks to the HCNJ, I have invaluable experience as a 19-year-old that makes me a unique candidate.”
Alyssa – Celebrate the Individual (CTI):
“At CTI, I worked on initiating Google Ads Campaigns to increase the number of donors reached. I found a number of grants CTI could apply for, created a Letter of Inquiry and grant template and am applying to 3 grants. I discovered the struggles that adults over 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities face in getting access to support. I learned about how a well-established nonprofit functions, I have gained a valuable lesson in how to communicate with people professionally, and also how to structure my own time to achieve results.“
Joanne – Arthritis Foundation:
“My duties included designing newsletter templates for the year, interviewing ‘Arthritis Warriors’ to gain insight into their stories and writing their spotlight paragraphs. Karen and Emily were incredibly communicative, accessible, and responsive, and they gave me fast and helpful feedback. Talking to people with arthritis and learning about the exceptional individualization of the disorder was rewarding as well. I am grateful for this opportunity and would most definitely pursue it again.”
