The Harvard Club of New Jersey is invited to a special event featuring “Come from Away” Show at Paper Mill Playhouse, New Jersey’s premier regional theater and recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award.  About the Show: On September 11, 2001, the world stopped. On September 12, a small Newfoundland town started bringing people together. Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 stranded airplane passengers welcomed by a community that turned fear into friendship and strangers into family. Filled with heart, humor, and a spirited score, this Tony-winning musical with book, music, and lyrics by David Hein and Irene Sankoff is a celebration of kindness, resilience, and the power of human connection.

Suggested age range is 13+ 

12:30pm: Welcome & Preshow. The event begins at Paper Mill’s Downtown Studio, where guests will enjoy a warm reception. The Director of Education will offer an overview of Paper Mill’s acclaimed artistic and education programs. Guests will experience a showcase of the rising talent from Paper Mill’s Summer Conservatory for Youth Artists, a nationally recognized training program. Paper Mill team will share insights about the mainstage production and introduce the themes and cultural relevance of Come From Away , exploring how this remarkable musical tells a story of compassion, resilience, and community in the face of crisis.

Lunch will not be provided, yet members are welcome to bring food. Guests will then walk or take a short shuttle to Paper Mill’s mainstage for a performance of Come From Away


1:30pm - 3:30pm: Mainstage Performance.  Based on a true story, this uplifting musical follows a small Newfoundland town that welcomed 7,000 stranded travelers after 9/11 with compassion and community.

 

3:30pm-4pm: Cast Q&A. The event will conclude with a post-show Q&A with members of the cast, offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their process and experiences bringing this extraordinary story to life.
