Mayan Archeoastronomy at the Raritan Planetarium

 

In a feast of colors and sounds, observers of the Universe makes a tour of 6 Mayan temples: San Gervasio, Chichen Itzá, Uxmal, Edzná, Palenque and Bonampak where the spectator dives into a Mayan world of knowledge about the importance of the orientations of its temples in relation to the movement of some stars like the Sun, the Moon and Venus.

 

Arrival

Please plan to arrive about 30 minutes beforehand to check in, use restrooms, and explore the exhibit area with a scavenger hunt and a visit to the gift shop. The theater is dark. For safety reasons, if you leave during a show, you cannot re-enter the theater. If you are coming with cars, the closest parking lots are #9 and #1. College classes are in session and these lots may be full when you arrive. There is always parking available in Lot 5. Give yourself about ten minutes to walk to the Planetarium after parking in Lot 5.

 

Gift Shop

The Planetarium's gift shop can be opened after the show if anyone wants to buy astronaut food, a book, or other souvenir.

 

The tickets are $15 per person.
