Foraging Hike
Join local wild food enthusiast and forager, Dan Lipow, owner of The Foraged Feast, for a moderately paced hike through the South Mountain Reservation as we focus on seasonally-available wild food. Dan will share his knowledge of edible plants and fungi as frequent stops are made to learn about and collect nature’s bounty. We are likely to spot mushrooms and many spring greens such as greenbrier, sassafras, and garlic mustard.
- For the hike, we recommend sturdy shoes or hiking boots, as well as plenty of water and a snack.
- For the wild food collection, we recommended small collection bags or baskets, as well as outdoor gloves and a pocket knife.
When: Sunday, June 2 from 3:30 - 5:00 pm
Where: South Mountain Reservation, Cherry Ln, West Orange, NJ 07052. Exact location in the Reservation will be announced the week before.
The tickets are $35 for adult dues-paying members, and $20 for kids of members aged 8-14. For non-dues-paying members, tickets are $45 for adults and $25 for kids aged 8-14. No kids under the age of 8 (for safety reasons) or pets are allowed.

- In registering for this event, I hereby release and agree to hold harmless the Harvard Club of NJ, the HCNJ Executive Committee and/or its individual members, and the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) (collectively, “HCNJ and its affiliates”), and waive on behalf of myself, my guests, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act, in this activity.
- I understand that this release discharges HCNJ and its affiliates from any liability or claim that I, my guests, my heirs, or any personal representatives, may have against HCNJ and its affiliates with respect to any bodily injury, allergic reaction, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, this program.
- This liability waiver and release extends to HCNJ and its affiliates and any other affiliated organization or partner for this program, namely The Foraged Feast LLC and Daniel Lipow.
- I also understand that by registering online I approve the possible use of photos of me and my guests at this event on social media or in promotional materials.
By registering for this hike, I attest I and my guests are) in good health and attest:
- That I will follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended guidelines regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including, but not limited to, required isolation upon exposure and masking policies.
- That, notwithstanding the above, if shortly before the event, I experience multiple symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell, I will exercise prudent judgment and not attend the event, so as not to expose other participants to COVID-19 or any other severe upper respiratory conditions.
