You are cordially invited to

The 14th Annual Harvard Club of New Jersey Interviewers Seminar

Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Ridgewood Public Library, 125 North Maple Ave, Ridgewood, NJ

Please join us at the seminar for an informative and lively discussion on what Harvard College looks for from the alumni interview and on how to conduct an excellent and informative interview.  Alumni interviews remain a crucial part of the admissions process – particularly as Harvard continues to extend its outreach to students of any and all socio-economic backgrounds.

If you already interview for us, THANK YOU – we hope to see you at the seminar.  If you can’t come to the seminar, please make sure you have responded to the annual eligibility form which you recently received via the email we have on file for you.

If you don’t - please consider joining our team.  New interviewers who qualify are always welcome!  We have an experienced team of area chairs who will work with you individually to get you up to speed.  Please note that you must be a holder of an academic degree from one or more of the university’s graduate schools in order to be considered as an interviewer.

Beyond the academic degree, Harvard looks for prospective interviewers to have “a broad knowledge of the College, enthusiasm for your experience as a student at Harvard, familiarity with the Harvard undergraduate experience, and sincerity of purpose in working with prospective college students, their families, schools, and the general public” (Harvard College Interviewer Handbook 2022-23, p. 4).

Over 1,300 high school seniors from northern New Jersey applied for admission to the class of 2026, and we expect a similar number for the class of 2027.  Our club aims to interview every applicant with a reasonable chance of admission – something we can’t do without your help.

Those of us who do interview agree that the few hours we spend with these high school seniors – many so distinguished and inspiring at such a young age – to be among the most worthwhile we spend every year.

We hope to see you October 2nd!
