Invitation to the Harvard Club of the Hudson Valley’s Shakespeare at Boscobel
If music be the food of love, play on
...O, it came o’er my ear like the sweet south
That breathes upon a bank of violets
... when liver, brain, and heart,
These sov’reign thrones are all supplied and filled
Act I, Scene i
You are invited to join the Harvard Club of the Hudson Valley’s annual foray to Shakespeare at Boscobel that well supplies liver - with Brimstone Hill's best vintage from Dick Eldridge '59, brain - with play analysis by Prof. Marlis Paffenroth ALM '93, and heart - with the romance of Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's professional production of Twelfth Night.
It also includes hearty al fresco buffet - crab cakes, salmon, chicken, ribs, vegetables, pastries, etc. - consumed in lively company under the maple behind the historic house. Perhaps no violets but a bank of roses, sweeping lawn to wide river, mountainous horizon.
The perfect time for a preview of Twelfth Night is Eleventh Night - June 11th, Sunday at 5:30 for wine, feast, talk, welcome by Festival Director, and then the play's the thing.
Boscobel is just south of Cold Spring at 1601 Route 9D, seven miles north of the Bear Mountain Bridge - worth the voyage.
In past years, alums from the Harvard Club of New Jersey and the Harvard Club of Princeton have joined the Harvard Club of the Hudson Valley for their annual gala. For more information and to purchase tickets, please see the invitation which is attached here and please note that you may also book on-line through Eventbrite.
If you are not a member of the Harvard Club of New Jersey, please consider joining the Club. You may join online through our website at hcnj.clubs.harvard.edu.
