CUMAC: Feeding People & Changing Lives

Volunteer at HCNJ's January service event!

HARVARD CLUB OF NEW JERSEY

Invites you to an event to

SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNITIES in NEED

Saturday, January 25, 2014 – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

CUMAC – Food Bank

223 Ellison, Paterson, NJ 07509

Following the holidays, food banks are facing dangerously low supplies of food.  The CUMAC* supports the communities of Northern New Jersey and the CUMAC's food pantry served over 30,000 people last year.  The CUMAC  relies on volunteers to help continue its mission of fighting hunger throughout New Jersey.  Website: http://cumacecho.org/

Come join the Harvard Club of NJ to help support the community of NJ to sort and repackage meals for distribution to families statewide. The HCNJ has an opening for 20 volunteers on Saturday, January 25th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Snacks will be served during the introduction. Children over 11 years old are welcome to join parents and certificates of community service will be provided for students.

Guidelines

· Free of Charge.  However, canned food donations (suggestions: http://cumacecho.org/food-items-needed.html - as donations drop precipitously after the holidays despite need remaining high), grocery bags (they use over 20,000 a month to pack bags!) or coffee cans (used to sort bulk food) are most welcome.

· Dress code is casual. Layers are suggested.  Sneakers or comfortable shoes (no sandals or open toes).

· Because of the limited number of volunteers allowed per shift, registration will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

· Nearby highways: Garden State Parkway, Route I-80, Route 46, and Route 4.

· Secured parking for CUMAC is located behind the building.  Turn left into our driveway, directly before the Railroad overpass.  Please give a “warning beep” as you enter the tunnel, and be alert as vehicles may be exiting.  Directions are included below.
