Experience High Mountain Park Preserve with The Nature Conservancy

Followed by a light lunch in Franklin Lakes
Enjoy the fall colors of High Mountain Park Preserve, a wooded oasis bordering Bergen County and Franklin Lakes, with The Nature Conservancy’s staff and trustees. The Conservancy’s Barbara Brummer and Eric Olsen will lead a lovely walk– which includes great views of the NYC skyline – followed by a light lunch at the home of a Conservancy supporter in Franklin Lakes. Dr. Brummer is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Program.
Active in the Garden State since 1955, the Conservancy has helped protect nearly 50,000 acres, including the 1,260-acre High Mountain Park preserve, and many of the state’s freshwater sources and biologically rich coastal areas. Meet at the corner of Navaho and Reservoir Drive in Franklin Lakes, where a small white sign greets visitors. We’ll then be ascending to the peak of High Mountain, with a gorgeous overlook of the NYC skyline and many other features to witness. We will be back to our cars by about 12:15pm and then take a 5 minute drive to the home of Conservancy supporters Jackie and Joe Basralian for a light lunch.
If you plan to attend, please wear sturdy shoes, as some of the hike is steep and rocky. If it is raining on the eve or morning of the hike, please be sure to check email, since it may become too slippery to hike. In that event, the hiking portion will probably be cancelled and we’ll instead convene at the member’s home for lunch.
